Who We Are

Who We Are

M28 are on a mission to break the cycle of poverty, poor education, and violence and give hope to those in need.

"Since being a part of M28, I’ve decided to always try to lead with my best foot forward and always give love to everyone because that’s what God is. God is love." - M28 Volunteer

Imagine a Miami where nobody is hungry, cold or neglected

~ Nelson Ruiz

Together We Are Better

“I expected it to be just going and helping people, but I was honestly helped by them! The people we interact with always seem to have experienced my deepest fears of the future, yet they seem to still keep a smile and still know the joys of God’s grace.” - M28 Volunteer

Where it all began...

Our mission began when educator Nelson Ruiz was in search of meaning in his own life and he saw that the homeless community in Miami needed help.

He called some friends and they started distributing care packages with soap, shampoo, sandwiches and water.

The mission quickly grew to over 100 volunteers who now visit housing projects in the field, like Pork and Beans at Liberty Square, and give out “Love Bags” that include sandwiches, fruit, water and words of encouragement.
